The Uganda Committee on Large Dams (UCOLD) is Uganda's national representative to the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD), a prestigious non-governmental organization dedicated to sharing professional knowledge in dam engineering.
As the 101st member state admitted on June 14, 2019, during ICOLD's 87th Annual General Assembly in Ottawa, Canada, UCOLD serves as the focal point for large dam development, safety, and management in Uganda.
UCOLD's membership was driven by Uganda's increasing investment in hydropower generation, water supply systems, and agricultural water infrastructure, positioning the country as a key player in East Africa's water resources development.
