Kiira Dam was constructed as an extension to the original Nalubaale Power Station to increase Uganda's electricity generation capacity. Located just 1 km from Nalubaale, it shares the same reservoir and water source from Lake Victoria.
Added 200MW to Uganda's national grid, helping address power shortages in the early 2000s.
