In Osudan Parish, Katakwi Subcounty,Ngariam County, the bleating of goats has taken on a new meaning — a melody of hope for 50 young men and women who have become the latest beneficiaries of Hon. Peter Ogwang’s empowerment drive.
The Minister of State for Education and Sports (Sports), who also doubles as Ngariam County MP, supported the youth with goats worth UGX 5 million, giving them not just animals, but a chance to dream of self-reliance.
At the handover, Mr. Joseph Alucha, who represented the Minister, urged the beneficiaries to treat the goats as a stepping stone to greater opportunities. “These goats are not mere gifts. They are an investment in your future. If you look after them well, they will multiply and uplift your households,” he said.
Goats as Seeds of Change
For Hon. Ogwang, these goats are more than livestock. They are “seeds of change” meant to multiply into herds, incomes, and brighter futures for Ngariam’s young people.
From Handouts to Hands-On Work
Local leaders hailed the initiative, describing it as a shift from dependency to productivity. Instead of waiting for handouts, the youth now have an enterprise to nurture — one goat at a time.
A Future on Four Legs
As the goats find new homes across Osudan Parish, optimism is spreading. Beneficiaries see them as the first step towards economic freedom, and the community views the project as an investment in resilience.
In the dusty fields of Ngariam, where opportunity often comes slow, 50 youths now have a reason to believe that prosperity can indeed come trotting home on four legs.
