
Technical Handover Of Koboko Faecal Sludge Treatment Facility To Northern Umbrella Of Water And Sanitation (NUWS)
A team led by Eng. Emmex Turyatunga has successfully completed the technical handover of the Koboko Faecal Sludge Treatment (FST) facility to the NUWS for operation and maintenance. The facility, located in Koboko Municipality, was implemented by the Urban Water and Sewerage Department under IWMDP with funding from the World Bank.
The FST facility is designed to serve Koboko Municipality and neighboring towns, and comprises various components, including:
– Mixing chamber, screen, and grit chamber
– Faecal Sludge concrete distribution channels
– 4 planted drying beds
– Self-priming chamber
– 2 constructed wetlands
– 2 horizontal rock filters
– Facility warehouse
– Access road and landscaping
– Drilling of One (1) borehole to serve the fFSTP and installation of submersible solar pump.
The handover ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including the consultant and contractor’s teams, Koboko District and Municipal Council leaders, UWSD staff, and Umbrella North officials.
