(Cultivating Inner Power for Collective Action)
Under the WW2/FCDO programme dubbed integrating Gender based violence into the Climate change sector. CEDOVIP held 3 days follow up training for community facilitators and community leaders mobilised from the project parishes of Kasodo and Boliso 1 in Pallisa district to enable them to explore the transformative concept of “power within” as a catalyst for activism against violence against women (VAW) and climate change. The training offered a space for deep reflection, critical dialogue, and collective learning anchored in the belief that personal empowerment is foundational to systemic change.
Beyond exploring power within, the training also illuminated the often-overlooked intersection between gender-based violence and environmental degradation. Participants explored how climate change especially wetland degradation exacerbates vulnerabilities for women and girls, particularly in rural and marginalized communities. Resource scarcity, displacement, and ecological stress can intensify domestic violence, limit access to services, and deepen gender inequalities.
This training marks a powerful step towards cultivating leaders and facilitators who are not only informed but deeply grounded in values of justice, care, and collective liberation. As participants return to their communities, they carry with them the seeds of transformation ready to challenge violence, protect the environment, and build a more equitable world.
