Moses Kyangwa

Chief Executive Officer

Moses Kyangwa is a Rotarian, public health scientist and a research associate in Uganda. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in science Education, Master of Public Health and he has obtained post graduate training in Monitoring and Evaluation, Project planning and Management, administrative law and public administration. He has experience in designing, implementing and evaluating studies, projects and programs both in rural and urban settings. He has experience working in governmental and non governmental organizations as well as in academia including leadership positions on Global projects; USAID, Global fund, SIDA, World food program, World health organization and university research projects at Washington, John Hopkins, Michigan and Makerere University. He is a self-driven and motivated, Results focused, highly analytical and dynamic, innovative, creative, flexible and decisive professional with concrete academic background and work experience of over 10 years in programming, implementing and monitoring local and international donor research, projects and Programs His  expertise varies from performance management, team building, research, strategic planning and advocacy/outreach strategy development and engagement, managing grants and sub grantees, networking and collaboration, building and nurturing partnerships, program planning and budgeting, monitoring & Evaluation and reporting

Dorothy Akongo

Research And Advocacy Manager

Dorothy Akongo is the Research And Advocacy Manager and Project Coordinator ICLD Uganda- Child Thrive Project. She also supports Fellowship/Internship, Research and Advocacy. She is a Public Health specialist and a social scientist, she also poses certificate in Good Clinical Practice, Monitoring and Evaluation, Evidence Based Policy, Community Policing, and Leadership and Management in Health. She enjoys working within the time line with commitment and positive energy. Humility and integrity are her core values and pays attention to details while working with people from different walks of life. She has strong interpersonal traits with the capability of working alone and within a team with minimal supervision. she possesses strong online and paper qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills. Her career objective is to improve health among individuals and communities through community mobilization, sensitization, project planning implementation, and management and active research. Her passion lies in maternal, child and adolescent health with kin interest in early childhood development and redesign for capital development.
In her free time, enjoys listening to music, dancing and spending time with family.

Tatumwa D. Benjamin

Communications Officer

Tatumwa Desmond Benjamin is a Communications Officer and Nurse with extensive experience in healthcare and public relations. He excels in developing and implementing effective communication strategies, managing social media presence, and coordinating public relations activities. Desmond collaborates closely with health professionals to conduct impactful health education sessions, showcasing his commitment to community health.

He has held several high-level positions, including Head of Communications at Busoga Health Forum and Hope & Healing Center, President of +256 Youth Platform, and Projects Chair of the Rotaract Club of Iganga. Desmond’s leadership skills and commitment have significantly contributed to various healthcare initiatives and research projects aimed at improving public health.

As a nurse, he played a key role in conducting intervention studies on unintended pregnancies among teenagers in Busoga, supported by JICA, and evaluating essential services provided by Jinja City Local Government through a Citizen Report Card Survey supported by the Swedish International Center for Local Democracy. Additionally, Desmond has designed data collection tools for the Urban Thrive project by Makerere University School of Public Health and the Busoga Health Forum.

An alumnus of YALI RLC East Africa cohort 42, Desmond developed a passion for using his skills in graphic design and web development to visualize and communicate community health indicators. Outside of work, he enjoys creating new friendships and exploring new places, valuing connection and community, and continually seeking ways to bring people together for a common cause. :desmondbenja@gmail.com

Dr. Kharim Mwebaza Muluya (PhD)

Technical Advisor (RMNCAH)

Dr. Muluya Mwebaza Kharim is a technical advisor at Busoga Health Forum, specializing in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH). He earned a PhD in Public Health from Kenyatta University and holds a Master’s Degree in Health Services Management, along with a Bachelor’s in Population and Environment Health from Islamic University in Uganda.

Dr. Karim has obtained several in-service certificates, including Health Services Management, routine HIV/AIDS counseling and testing, and Monitoring and Evaluation. He finds joy in teaching, mentoring, and coaching health workers and stakeholders at health centers, districts, regions, and national levels across various disciplines.

With valuable experience as a part-time university lecturer since August 2014, he actively conducts research and publishes journal articles. Moreover, he takes pride in supervising research projects at both the university and district levels. Additionally, Dr. Karim actively participates in curriculum development for different health programs and presents papers to diverse communities on various health and management topics.

Through his dedication and expertise, Dr. Muluya Karim continues to make meaningful contributions to public health and health services management, working towards better healthcare outcomes for communities.
